The Amazon region comprises about 50% of the Colombian territory and is the least populated area of the country. It contains part of the Andes western mountains and the Amazon jungle. It includes the basins of the Guaviare, Vichada, Putumayo and, Amazon rivers.

Food
Amazon’s daily meals are predominated by fried fish or soup, accompanied by fried plantain, cooked yucca and chili. However, there are many varied dishes such as stuffed “gamitana” (fish), gamitana ribs, pyrarucú balls (fish) and roasted tarpon, among others.
